Thank you for donating to GCTC. All of us have many options when it comes to our giving priorities, and we are particularly grateful that you have chosen to support us. We care about the relationships we form with our donors and encourage you to reach out if you have any questions, want to learn more about your giving, or to simply say hello.

GCTC is a not-for-profit registered charity.

If you’re interested in joining the GCTC family of donors, or wish to change, upgrade or renew your gift to our theatre, you’ve come to the right place.

Our donors are the cornerstone of our organization. In fact, most of them have been supporting us annually since our very first year of operation in the late 70s.

With ticket sales only covering 1/3 of our operations, we rely on donations from individuals, businesses and supporters to ensure we can continue to bring bold, brave and meaningful theatre to our stage. Donor benefits include: a tax receipt, good karma, and the knowledge that you directly contributed to ensuring the arts can continue to make a positive difference in your community.

Below is a snapshot of the different ways you can support GCTC. If you have questions about giving or anything related to fundraising, you can e-mail us, or drop us a line.

"GCTC has been a keystone of live professional theatre in Ottawa for decades. Its stalwart support for local actors, playwrights, and musicians has helped foster a vibrant pool of talent whose innovation, expression, and creativity rivals that of much larger cities. GCTC productions make us laugh, make us cry, make us gasp and, perhaps most importantly, make us think.”

— Longtime GCTC donors Wendy D and George C

Director's Circle

A donation of $1,000 or more represents two great things:
1) you become a major GCTC donor
2) you join the Director’s Circle

Director’s Circle members enjoy a deeper connection with GCTC, and a sense of pride knowing their donations go beyond the season of programming; they enrich the lives of our staff, artists and patrons.

Name a Seat

Admit it. You’ve sat in the theatre and thought, “How can I get my name on a seat?”

Naming a seat gives back while gifting you with something tangible in return. It’s a $2,500 one-time donation (monthly payments are not only possible, but encouraged!) and you may dedicate the seat. Patrons have honoured friends, loved ones, actors, playwrights, community organizations, businesses and even a family dog. Don’t believe us? Check out seat D4 the next time you’re in the theatre.

DONATE STOCKS

A donation of securities or mutual funds means larger tax savings for you and a larger donation for us. And donating through CanadaHelps makes this process easy. If you are interested in a donation of securities, click here and follow the simple steps.

If you are already familiar with the process of donating securities through CanadaHelps, you may find our charity page here.

Corporate Giving

Our partnerships with arts-loving organizations are a big part of our success.

If reaching new audiences or broadening your engagement with the community is a priority for your business, this is a great way to show some love. We’re a nice fit if your community giving priorities include the arts, education, supporting youth or seniors, and making the arts experience as accessible as possible to everyone. We can even name a seat!

Corporate Sponsorship

Sponsorships with GCTC allow your organization to benefit from a return on investment that enhances your visibility in the community. Over 30,000 people come through our doors every year, and more than 8,000 of them ask to be contacted regularly with information on our partnerships. We listen to what you're looking to achieve, and present all the ways GCTC can make it happen. Reach out to our Director of Development if you’d like to learn about the unlimited possibilities!
