Summer Stage

For the aspiring artist in your family, our new Summer Stage program is an intensive summer theatre program for youth (ages 7-15). Summer Stage runs as a day camp, 9am to 4pm, Monday through Friday at the theatre (1233 Wellington St. West).

As a focused summer theatre program for youth, Summer Stage aims to create a fun and safe learning environment that fosters the joy of theatre in young people through the fundamentals of storytelling and imagination. Over the course of each session, students will work alongside their instructor(s) and their classmates to cast, produce, and rehearse a show that will be presented on the final Friday of the session.

Students will learn, create, and explore the fundamentals of theatre. Each participant will build their individual knowledge of theatre while also working collaboratively with others to achieve a collective goal.


Explorers (Age 7-9)

Weekly sessions beginning the weeks of July 8, 15, 22, 29, and August 5, 12

Price: $350/week

As a one-week session, students will have the opportunity to explore their imagination and work collaboratively with others. With a focus on confidence building, storytelling, and teamwork, this session is sure to activate both curiosity and creativity. The session will end with a presentation to showcase the students’ hard work.

Innovators (Age 10-12)

Weekly sessions beginning the weeks of July 8 and 15

2-Week sessions beginning the weeks of July 22 and August 5

Price: $350/1 week
$580/2 weeks

As a one-week session, students will build on their existing knowledge of theatre and storytelling. With a focus on relationships, character development, and teamwork, students will learn the foundational principles of theatre and engage in scene work together. The session will end with a presentation to showcase the students’ hard work.

In the extended, 2-week session, there is more time to apply learning. The 2-week session will end with a fully realized performance to showcase the student’s hard work.

Creators (Age 13-15)

2-Week sessions beginning the weeks of July 8, 22 and August 5

Price: $580

This two-week intensive is for those who love storytelling and drama. Students will be challenged to consider all aspects of theatre creation including storytelling, character development, set and wardrobe design, and artistic direction. The two-week session will conclude with a fully realized performance on the GCTC Mainstage to showcase the students’ hard work

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • Summer stage will take place at the Irving Greenberg Theatre Centre, home of GCTC at 1233 Wellington St. West. Occasional trips may be made off-site to nearby parks.

  • Each session of Summer Stage is 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. (Except the week of August 5th. The August 6th sessions begin on Tuesday due to the Civic Holiday on Monday, August 5th.)

  • Your child may be dropped off anytime between 8:30am and 9:00am (Monday-Friday). Registrants will not be permitted to sign in before this timeframe.

    Your child may be picked up anytime between 4:00pm and 4:30pm. Failure to collect the participant within this timeframe may result in additional fees being charged, as staff/supervisors are not on premises after this time frame, and additional childcare provisions will need to be made.

  • GCTC's spaces are step-free/wheelchair accessible, we are a scent-free space and offer both gender inclusive washrooms as well as gendered washrooms. We are a dog-friendly workspace--and on occasion, a dog or two might be hanging around the building. By request, instructors can be flexible with break and snack times, and we can post and require restricted foods for all participants if your child has an allergy. If you would like one of these offered accommodations please indicate on your child’s registration form and include any additional information (such as frequencies of breaks and/or food allergies). If your child requires additional accommodations please list them on the registration form and we will contact you about what we can do to accommodate your child. Unfortunately, at this time we cannot offer ASL/LSQ interpretation, captioning/or intervenors.

  • Unfortunately, no. The age groups are set to create a controlled learning environment for students of similar age. We recommend registering your child based on the age groups posted. All participants must be within the age group listed on the first day of camp.

  • Each session has a maximum of 12 participants to ensure proper supervision and high-quality instruction.

  • Refund Policy


    After purchase, the following refund policies apply:
    1. If cancelled before May 31, 2024, a refund can be issued. A $50 cancellation fee will apply.
    2. If cancelled in advance of 30 days prior to the scheduled session, a 50% refund can be issued.
    3. If cancelled within 30 days of the scheduled session, no refund will be issued*.
